La Prova Rosso 2016
WINEMAKER’S NOTES
A blend of Sangiovese, Nero d’Avola, Lagrein and Primitivo = succulent yet savoury.
Sangiovese (42%) - Amadio Vineyard, Kersbrook, Adelaide Hills
Nero d’Avola (39%) - Ricca Terra Farms, Barmera, Riverland
Lagrein (13%) – Mt Crawford, Barossa Valley
Primitivo (6%) – Peechabella Vineyard, Langhorne Creek
Four small parcels of grapes, the varieties idyllically matched to their vineyard, fermented separately and blended prior to bottling, have combined to give up a succulent and delicious wine.
The varieties have created synergy rather than individuality, but looking contemplatively you can see the blue fruits and structure of Lagrein, the fragrance and savoury grip of Sangiovese, rounded out by the soft and juicy, crowd pleasing Nero d’Avola and Primitivo bringing a dash of opulence to the table.
