La Prova Uno Sangiovese 'Piccolino' 2018
La Prova Uno ‘Piccolino’ Sangiovese 2018
Tasting Notes
The Piccolino Sangiovese is a member of our ‘Uno’ collection of wines which reflect an exceptional union of grower, vineyard site and variety. Here being David and Vanessa Blows, Macclesfield and Sangiovese. Piccolino refers to a very small berry clone of Sangiovese, which gives us great character and depth to the wine, without being a heavyweight. Sangiovese, most famously grown in Tuscany, now features not only all over central and southern Italy, but also finds home in many new world wine countries. The savoury characters combined with the medium red and dark fruits are what makes Sangiovese one of the most versatile grape varieties on the planet. This wine is a great cellaring option for 5 -10 years, and for those that can’t wait, a quick aeration will fast track it to your table.
Winemaking Notes
Hand-picked, destemmed and wild fermented. The grapes spend about one months on skins to shape the tannins into being firm yet silky, while retaining vibrant fruit. Unfined and unfiltered. Vegan friendly. 99 dozen produced. Bottled May 2019.
